Quantity Surveyor

Our client is a well known and highly respected Quantity Surveying - Construction Cost Management firm. They are currently in need of a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor who can work with the existing team to produce a demanding Bill of Quantities contract for a 6 week contract. There is the possibility of future work in 2021 dependant on workload.

To secure this excellent role you will have the following skills, knowledge and education:

  • Tertiary Degree in Construction Economics or Quantity Surveying
  • 5+ years of post-degree experience working in Australian Quantity Surveying/Contract Administration roles
  • Proven experience in the Measurement of Bills of Quantities in accordance with Standard Method of Measurement
  • Experienced in CostX estimating software
  • Cost Estimating, Project Cost Planning and Management
  • Proven client interaction experience
  • Excellent time management and the ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive, a problem solver with the ability to work autonomously
  • A real team player

The Design Development will further develop the themes and vision outlined in the Masterplan, ground-proofing and further refining the design intent. This role will lead Instrumentation and Electrical design efforts for the project and support Instrumentation and Electrical Engineers with development of wiring and installation drawings for electrical equipment. You will have experience/knowledge in 

  • Hands-on knowledge of first principles in estimating, particularly in steel, piping, tank, vessel and plate fabrication and associated site installation works.
  • Understanding of technical specifications and codes applicable to tendered items and projects

  • Estimate reporting bid / won / lost / pending
  • Overseeing or undertaking accurate material take-offs, sourcing subcontractor and suppliers quotes for tender submission.
  • Contract review
  • Compiling and completing timely tender submissions, for review and issue.
  • Identifying and quantifying cost and risk factors.
  • Undertaking tender reviews and assessment at pre-tender stage.
  • Carrying out internal tender handover meetings of successful tenders of the project team.
  • Assisting project managers in the calculation and production of claims.
  • Internal reporting requirements
  • Implementing and working to the quality management system procedures.
  • Significant experience within the resources, oil and gas, infrastructure industries

 

Your skills will include:

  • Trade Certificate with suitable relevant industry experience prior to commencing estimating.
  • Experience in estimating on work in the $5,000 - $5M range
  • Bachelor of Construction Project Management (Quantity Surveying/ Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related field);
  • Experience in a senior estimating capacity on Structural, Mechanical & Piping (SMP) Fabrication and Construction projects;
  • Workshop fabrication estimating experience
  • Minimum 5 - 10 years’ in a similar role;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with team members;
  • Ability to consistently and reliably meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work through processes with a methodical approach with high attention to detail;
