This role will lead Instrumentation and Electrical design efforts for the project and support Instrumentation and Electrical Engineers with development of wiring and installation drawings for electrical equipment. This job requires heavy interaction with designers and engineers within the Instrumentation and Electrical group, and from other disciplines, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages.

Essential Job Functions:

• Conceptualize wiring diagrams, E&I layouts, and design details as required
• Clear and timely communication regarding design change issues
• Liaison, support and timely transfer of information to other disciplines
• Respond to technical queries
• Contribute to site installation and commissioning information as required

• Minimum of 10 years design drafting experience, with at least 5 years in the mining and metals processing field
• Understanding of discipline technology and other discipline requirements
• Ability to problem-solve effectively
• Attention to detail
• Good commercial awareness/risk management skills
• Competency in Microstation and/or AutoCAD
• Competency in 3D Design tools
• Database Design experience highly regarded

• Estimate reporting bid / won / lost / pending
• Overseeing or undertaking accurate material take-offs, sourcing subcontractor and suppliers quotes for tender submission.
• Contract review
• Compiling and completing timely tender submissions, for review and issue.
• Identifying and quantifying cost and risk factors.
• Undertaking tender reviews and assessment at pre-tender stage.
• Carrying out internal tender handover meetings of successful tenders of the project team.
• Assisting project managers in the calculation and production of claims.
• Internal reporting requirements
• Implementing and working to the quality management system procedures.
• Significant experience within the resources, oil and gas, infrastructure industries

Your skills will include:

• Trade Certificate with suitable relevant industry experience prior to commencing estimating.
• Experience in estimating on work in the $5,000 - $5M range
• Bachelor of Construction Project Management (Quantity Surveying/ Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related field);
• Experience in a senior estimating capacity on Structural, Mechanical & Piping (SMP) Fabrication and Construction projects;
• Workshop fabrication estimating experience
• Minimum 5 - 10 years’ in a similar role;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with team members;
• Ability to consistently and reliably meet deadlines;
• Ability to work through processes with a methodical approach with high attention to detail;

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: 

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Mechanical design and plant layout - crushing, grinding, materials handling, flotation, CIL/CIP, slurry, pumping, slurry agitation, particle size classification and separation would also be highly regarded 
• Advance diploma or equivalent in Engineering is desirable.
• Extensive experience with Microstation.
